KCC Opera Theatre Ensemble to present ‘Amahl’ in December

The christening of Kellogg Community College’s newly renovated Binda Performing Arts Center continues with a presentation of the holiday opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”

“Amahl” will be presented by KCC’s Opera Theatre Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturdy, Dec. 5 and 6, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the center, located on campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. All showings are “pay what you can,” though a $5 donation to support KCC choirs is suggested.

The opera, originally commissioned for television by NBC in 1951 and composed by Gian Carlo Menotti, follows the experiences of a young boy who comes into contact with the biblical three kings on their way to visit the Christ child in the traditional story of the first Christmas.

The KCC production will feature a chorus of members of the College’s residential choirs including the Branch County Community Chorus, the Kellogg Singers and other KCC students and community mem

Arcadia's 18th Anniversary Celebration

The day begins with breakfast from 9 AM to 11 AM featuring Arcadia's infamous Corned Beef Hash and more.

From Noon to 5 PM, the anniversary lunch and dinner menu will be served when a $3 donation to enter will be collected.

After 5 PM, a $5 donation to enter will be collected. The Kalamazoo Pope Band will kick things off, owner Tim Suprise will give his annual Address to the Haggis at 6 PM, followed by an evening of music with Irish Trio Soltre!

All proceeds from entry donations will be given to the Food Bank of South Central Michigan.

New Years Eve Celebration

This New Years Eve, make plans to attend this celebration sponsored by Ciroc Utra Premium Vodka.

Tickets (which will go on sale soon) will be selling at $40 per person or $75 per couple.

The evening will feature a DJ, dancing, hors d'vouvres buffet, coat check, and an eight piece R&B band, The Saints of Soul. Spend the night in downtown Battle Creek by taking advantage of the special rate secured at McCamly Plaza Hotel (with free shuttle service) for just $99.

Buffet dinner, catered by Pasche's and Laura's Catering will be available for $37/person. The dinner, an additional add on to your ticket price, will include appetizers, dinner and dessert. Selections include a prime rib carving station, seafood newberg, chicken marsala and herb crusted pork loin.

Complementary champagne toast at midnight.

Doors Open: 8 PM
Dinner Ticket Holders: Admission begins at 6 PM, dinner served at 7 PM.
